Edition on Mindfulness
The August issue of Current Opinion in Psychology is dedicated to mindfulness and is a resource worth having. The downloads are free till 30th October.  There is a zip file of the entire issue at the top of the page so you can avoid downloading each file separately

The forward is by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of MBSR. He looks at psychology's understanding of the nature of mind, self and embodiment through the lens of psychology.

This is followed by about 60 articles in total clustered under the following headings: historical and conceptual foundations, Buddhist conceptions of mind and self, cognitive processes, self processes, interpersonal processes, neural correlates physical health, clinical outcomes and applications and mindfulness-based interventions, instructor training and assessment and social applications.

If you're more interested in learning about mindfulness from the inside out, book into our MBSR course starting 29th October. You'll get 8-weeks of mindfulness practice presented in a way that is integrated with psychological thinking and some of the research. It's a course that takes some practice at home and a willingness to apply yourself, but it could genuinely change your approach to life! I've been running the course for 6 years and also work as a local therapist in private practice.

It's very Sydney to wait till the last moment to book, but please don't. We need a few more bookings to make the course happen, and they need to by Sunday 19th October. It's so much harder when I get 5 bookings all in the last 24 hours.

Hop on the website to book or call me with any questions. 0431842 950

Tienne Simons is a therapist and the founder of HeadRest Mindfulness training. She did her training in MBSR when she became convinced that the program was not only a useful add on to therapy for many but sometimes a more appropriate way to support people than counselling. She has had a mindfulness practice for about 30 years- well nearly!
